Philosophies of leadership are determined by beliefs about human nature.
Lets start with a great leader. Our leader is cunning, strong and effective. Now, we need to add how he or she acts towards their followers. How he or she will act is determined on how they see humanity as a whole. Do they see humanity as caring, intelligent and people with morals? Or, do they see humanity as creatures fighting for the last piece of meet in the darkness? If they see humanity as something good, they will lead their followers with compassion and understanding. They will try to connect with them more, than stay distant. They will feel more pain when somebody gets hurt or dies than a person who has a negative view on humanity. If a leader has a negative view on humanity, they will not care how their followers feel. They will distant themselves from their followers and leave the dying behind.
I agree that depending on how a leader sees humanity, their leadership skills will be different. Since humans are only interested in their self gain, they will not care very much for their followers. The leader will have a strict rule because the purpose of the third party is to rule, and not get involved with the two parties. The leader will be the light in the distance, never getting closer, never helping

The governed have a responsibility for their governed.
There are three ways that a leader can be chosen for you:

  1. You choose who is the leader. This is called an election.
  2. A leader is your leader because he or she says they are, or they have the most power. This is considered following the one with the biggest muscles.
  3. You are not happy with who your leader is, so you overthrow them. This is called a revolution.
You have to understand that all humans want to be ruled, so there is no way you can dodge being ruled (unless you live in the woods by yourself). If you chose your leader, you have chosen them because you believe they have all the strengths a leader should have, they are charismatic, strong, productive and kind. You have to realize that being a leader puts lots of stress on someone, so make sure to spread out the leadership roles to help keep your leader sane. Also, spreading out the power makes sure your leader doesn't become power hungry, we'll come back to that later.
If your leader chose them self, you may be in for a bumpy ride. Your leader is their because you and another party have had a disagreement. They are there on the sole purpose of solving your disagreement. They will probably take what you were fighting over and split it evenly. If your self elected leader or third party gets a thrill off having power over you, you are in trouble. See, if you over throw the third party, you now have no one to tell you who's turn it is to play on the xbox, so you would be putting yourself back at square one.
Now, if you have elected your leader, lucky you! You can now have an uprising. This means you overthrow government and elect somebody new or even yourself to become the new leader. The problem with this is that you will most likely become the government you overthrew. A prime example of this would be Animal Farm. It is telling how the Soviet Union would not be able to work because it would turn out to be just like the government before it. It is hard to become a different government, as you will encounter the problems of the previous government and have to resort to tactics they used.
It is hard to be the government, because you have to make decisions. I believe that the governments only job is to be there to solve arguments.

Human Nature does not determine our actions,: it inclines us towards us towards certain actions
Nobody will know what you are going to do. If humans are kind and compassionate, than they will try and help other people. If their human nature is survival, they will try to  survive. I believe that humans want to survive, so they will do whatever it takes to survive. If there is a fire, a person will try and survive themselves.

The End... For Now

As this is my last blog before I go back to my grave, I would like to wrap things up, so that everyone knows how humanity really is. As you know, I believe humans want to survive, and that they'll do anything to achieve that goal. When two people are fighting over food (for example), there is need for a third party. The job of the third party is to settle the disagreement between the two parties. If the third party becomes corrupt with power, there is not much the two other parties can do because if they get rid of the third party, they are back at square one. Everything you do is in the interest for self gain. This is the case with the Lost Boys. They helped one another out of a little compassion, but mostly out of the need to survive. The way we lead depends on how we see humanity. That the governed have no real power to influence their leaders. That survival is the main thing that pushes what we do. I wish I could be as optimistic as John Locke, but I am only telling the truth.

The end is always nigh,

Let's face it, the ending of Lord of The Flies would not have happened in real life. There is no magic ending that makes everything better. The fact that a random Navy Officer sees the smoke of the island may happen, but it is less likely that the boys would automatically go back to their "Locke" state of nature. It is also more likely that Ralph's state of nature will emerge and he would take his revenge on Jack and the boys. This is what I believe would happen:
Ralph heard a noise to the left of him. He slowly crept towards the noise. When he saw the feet, he pounced at the feet,l knocking the biggun down. He covered his mouth and knocked him out with a rock. He laid the biggun against a tree and kept moving. He continued in a pattern of hiding and knocking a biggun out.
After awhile, he went to the beach, where he found the rest of the boys and Jack.
"Where is Roger?" He thought.
He turned around as he heard a noise. He saw Roger thrusting a two sided stick at his head. He ducked and picked up a stick he had taken from one of the boys. He blocked Roger's attack and tripped him in the process, causing the two sided stick to go into the ground. Roger  pushed himself back up. He tried to pull the stick out of the ground, but Ralph pushed Roger down, impaling his head onto the stick. "That's for Piggy." Ralph said walking away.
Leaving the body, Ralph walked out onto the beach. The flames now had engulfed most of the island. "How ironic," thought Ralph as he did a quick glance over his shoulder, "I've been trying to get enough smoke to signal a boat all this time. Well, I got my small fire alright."
"Look who finally showed up," Jack sneered, "Well, we'll give you a quick death, right boys?"
The small group of boys on the beach gave a loud cheer, but Jack looked worried.
"Roger? Roger? Roger attack!" Jack shouted more out of fear than out of power.
Suddenly, Maurice, Sam and Eric came out carrying most of the boys who Ralph had knocked out. With a look of shock, Jack ran towards the forest where he had sent Roger. He found him there, his head forced down on the stick, but instead of a smile like the pig's face, Roger's face was a face that realized his time had come. His eyes were looking up at Jack as if to tell him he was next.
"Jack, you have had your fun, now it is time to listen to me. No, not because you elected me, because if you don't, I will kill you here and now. Simon was right, it was our fault things were falling apart. But now there is no choice to go back to England with the innocence we came with, we will forever be killers, Maurice, you and I. There may be some hope for the littluns and Sam and Eric, but not us." Ralph went back to the beach, but not without saying one last thing to Jack. "Jack, either come with me peacefully and I will let you live, or die."
After Ralph walked back to the beach, a swarm of flies came to eat their fill, leaving Jack's head buzzing.

Lord of The Flies supports the idea that human nature at its heart is the need to survive by any means necessary.

The story of Sudan's Lost Boys is an incredible story. Boys who show compassion towards each other, making a trip of unthinkable horror. It is a very heart warming I must agree, but to not sound to cynical, I believe that human nature's instinct of survival is very part of this story. The basic instinct is to survive by any means necessary. The boys traveled in a pack, which is smart because if they had a better chance of surviving in a bigger group. They knew that to survive, they would need to leave people behind. For example, when lions attacked, they knew if they tried to save people from being eaten, they would also get attacked, and probably die. They chose to save themselves instead of help save another boy. Also with the crocidiles, they could only help themselves swim under the water.

Hello,
I am Thomas Hobbes a political philosopher. I have squared the circle and cubed the sphere. I have also had to flee Britain because I had ticked off all the political parties. Some people believe that I am pessimistic, but I disagree! I believe that I am only portraying humans as they really are, and people are upset because they know what I say is the truth. I believe that when a person is born, they only know survival. They do not know wrong from right, they only know they need to survive. They only know that they need to get what they need and want, and if somebody gets in their way to that goal, they may die. Once they have what they need, they know that they'll have to fight to keep it for themselves. What makes human act as they do, is their own survival. When two people are trying to survive off food and they are fearful that the other party will try to kill them for all of the food, a third party is necessary for keeping the two parties alive. The third party takes the food and evenly gives it out between the two parties. Even if the third party abuses their power, it is better to have a government than not to have one. Without a government, humans would end up killing each other to survive; thus we need order to keep us from following our basic instinct to survive by anyways necessary.
Humans will sometimes do anything just to get an object they want, they may not even use it. An example of this would be the day of Black Friday. On this day, Americans will go to big box stores that promise lower prices on items that they usually do not need, yet they fight over the items as if their survival depended on it. People may fight over surplus items they do not need, but when two parties are fighting over items they really need, a third party is needed, even if it is oppressive. A man named Trujillo ruled the Dominica Republic from 1930-1961. He ruled a very oppressive government. He was able to keep power because he made sure nobody else in the country got power. He abused his power, but the people still had a place to call home. Even though his government was corrupt, it was better having a government than not having one like the boys in Lord Of The Flies. They had two leaders, one named Jack, who was very much like me, and one named Ralph, who was very much like naive Locke. Since Jack and Ralph were having disagreements, the whole situation would have turned out much better if they had a third party deciding all their disagreements, but since they didn't, Jack's style of leading one the loyalty of the boys. I believe that Jack represents that humans' only instinct is to survive, and that if we go back to a state of nature, we shall only survive by doing whatever we can.
